Firefox does not see Canon printer
I am running Unix Ubuntu 22.04 with Firefox 104.0.01 (64 bit). My Canon LBP 6230DW works fine in my word processor and in Chrome, but it does not show up in the Printer destination field when I am in Firefox. The only print option is to "Save as PDF." How do I get the Canon to be a print destination in Firefox?

Can you post a screenshot of what your system is showing for printers and what you see in Firefox. see screenshot

Also try downloading Firefox from Mozilla, run firefox-bin from the folder and see if you have the same issue. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release
Did you try Firefox from Mozilla?
Can you try the reset option on this page.
I tried downloading Firefox from Mozilla, but got an error. I suppose I can try that again and try to figure out a way to resolve the error. I did the reset option twice, without any change. I did notice that my word processor uses the wired connection, although there is also the wireless connection. I just figured out how to transmit the screen prints; they are attached.

I have a similar problem.
I tried to print a Word Processing document from Google Docs, but whenever I did, I could not print to my printer. Clicking on Print always resulted in a dialog box to save a PDF of the document.
Thankfully, I found the fix. All I had to do is open Google Docs in Microsoft Edge, then I could print to my printer just fine.
The 2nd screenshot is from Libre. Can you show your system printer settings? see screenshot
Greetings! Thanks for trying to help me to get my printers to work while in Firefox. As I mentioned before, I have no trouble printing from the Chrome browser or from Libre, as long as I am not in Firefox. In fact, there are a number of duplicate printers listed in the Libre printer drop down box, but I see no ways to clean that up. How does one remove a printer that is no longer connected? When I open "Activities," and type "printers," I get an icon for my Canon, but the working Brothers printer is not even listed. In other words, I don't see a printer panel. I feel helpless trying to access information on this computer, things I was able to do easily with a DOS system back in the 90s. How does one get to a system information screen? Luckily, I can "print" to a PDF, and later actually print it. So this is not an emergency, but just a nuisance. Have a Happy New Year! Sincerely, Carl Mayer
1. To access the print settings, please see the upper, right-hand corner of the Firefox window, and select the Open Menu icon (highlighted in blue below). 2. Select the Print icon.
Greetings and a happy New Year! I clicked on the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner of the Firefox window, and then clicked on "Print..." Then I opened the "Destination" window to show my printers, and as usual in Firefox, only "Save to PDF" is available. I made a screen print, which is attached.
I'm still waiting to see your system printer settings not Libre. see screenshot

Happy New Year!
The only printer dialog screen prints I can get are the two I posted, one from Libre, which shows a number of printers, some not operational, and one from Firefox, which only shows the option "Save as PDF."
I have tried many times to get to the system printer dialog, but to no avail. The "settings" wheel is no help, nor is the "Print" in the application menu.
I understand there is supposed to be a link in the upper right corner of the Firefox screen, but I have only 3 symbols up there: the power off button, the speaker symbol and the network symbol (three connected squares). ALL THREE offer the SAME options as the power button, which I think is one problem. And I think there should be a printer icon up there.
Gotcha... Run this ---> lpstat -t. see screenshot

Greetings again, and thank you sooo much for trying to help me to get this printer issue resolved. The screen shots show a number of printers, which I'd like to explain: HL-L2630D-Series and Brother HL-L ... is a printer that works in Chrome and Libre, but not in Firefox. LBP6230-6240 is a Canon printer that works in Chrome and Libre, but not in Firefox. Canon_LBP151 is my wife's printer, not part of the problem. The HP_LaserJet_P1505 has been recycled; it is no longer around.
I hope this information is helpful. Thankfully yours, Carl Mayer
Did you ever try downloading Firefox from Mozilla? https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release Just download, unzip, and run firefox-bin in the folder. You can also just right click on the file and extract. see screenshot
Greetings again! I downloaded Firefox using your link, and I extracted it. Then I deleted the old version, restarted the computer, and the new Firefox still only let me "Save to a PDF." I just note you instructions to "Run firefox-bin" in the folder. I am off to do that now ...
Super! The new Firefox download's printer options are now like they used to be. I restored the old Firefox, in the hope the new version would copy the information, but that did not happen, yet. It wants to import from my Chrome account, but not the old Firefox. I can retype those websites, if I need to. Unfortunately, I have to head to bed, otherwise I would get in trouble with my wife. I'll work on this tomorrow. Thanks again! I can't believe that printer problem was finally solved. Sincerely, Carl Mayer
You can use sync to get your data from the old browser into the new one and just both. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-sync-my-computer https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-choose-what-information-sync-firefox
