3.6.7 update won't finish downloading

Using FF 3.6.6 on XP SP3. FF started downloading the update. After about an hour (dial up connection) the progress bar was completely filled and the dialog box said only a few more seconds. However, the downloading had stopped and the dialog box remained open. Finally, I just quit FF.

Now whenever FF is open, in the Help menu it says "Resume Downloading Firefox 3.6.7..." When I select this, the dialog box says "Connecting to update server..." but it never connects and the downloading never starts.

How can I find the file that was downloaded and get rid of it so I can download a new copy?

Operating system

XP SP3

Same on Win7/64-Bit.

Trying to upgrade from Firefox 3.6.6 but the download dialog is stuck with the message "Connecting to update server...".

I followed the instructions in this thread, see the post from Costas Athan, and after closing Firefox 3.6.6 then deleting the updates folder plus the two xml files and restarting Firefox I was able to update successfully.

Thanks Neil. Followed your link and was able to delete the corrupted files. I'm in the process of downloading 3.6.8.
