becoming frustrated that i cannot stop pages reloading. i have unchecked the "warn me when pages attempt to reload" box and then restarted and re-checked the box and still pages reload of their own volition.

Some websites reload automatically via a script or refresh meta tag.

Maybe NoScript can stop the reloading in your case.
