How do I import bookmarks on an XP computer to one with Windows 7, both have Firefox 4.o
The XP computer is a 5 year old Dell and the Windows 7 is a new HP Pavilion G7 laptop. I was confused over the differences in the appearance of Firefox on both since they are both v4.o. I was able to download my bookmarks to a .json file from my XP computer, but I don't see where I can import the file on my Windows 7 laptop. I checked the program files for Firefox in Windows 7 and saw a channel preferences.js file. I wasn't sure if I should transfer the bookmark.json file to this folder to "import" the bookmarks.

To import the bookmarks to the Windows 7 computer, click the orange Firefox button, then in the Bookmarks sub-menu select "Show All Bookmarks" to open the bookmarks library. In the bookmarks library, select the "Import and backup" menu, then click Restore and "Choose File" . You can then select the json file from the other computer.
For info the new interface is only default on Windows Vista and Windows 7. To get it on Windows XP you need to hide the menu bar. To do that in the View menu select Toolbars, then click on the "Menu Bar" entry.

Just to clarify you, need to export your bookmarks from your Windows XP machine and then import them into your Windows 7 laptop.
To replace your existing bookmarks with a Firefox bookmark backup file in JSON format, please see Backing up and restoring bookmarks.
