Is it possible to retrieve Profile name folder and all settings, thus all emails disappeared
Same problem described as lost all accounts and settings just 10 days ago. The person solved the problem by doing the following: C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<Profile name>\ ...or by using Thunderbird menu path Help->Troubleshooting information->click on the "Show Folder" button. The AppData folder is folder is a hidden folder; to show hidden folders, open a Windows Explorer window and choose "Organize → Folder and Search Options → Folder Options → View (tab) → Show hidden files and folders".
None worked for me because the Profile name folder is missing and, also, in Thunderbird Help . the IDs are empty.
Also get the message: "An error was encountered preparing the calendar located at moz-storage-calendar:// for use. It will not be available" and also an offer to set up a new email address. It is as if I have never been a Thunderbird user.
I am not a computer jockey, so I can't go deep into the system. Can anyone explain in lay terms what happened and how to fix it?

OK, so I reinstated all my accounts. The only emails that could be retrieved were those that still were in my server. Lost all drafts, sent, archives and, sadly, all the special folders where specific emails had been sorted. It is quite a big loss!! Can those emails be retrieved? Where did they go?
Alas, still no help from all of you. Here's what is really weird. The emails cannot be retrieved as the email but when using the SEARCH function, all the emails appear (in their shortened form) and when clicking to open, there is no email. That must mean that they are still somewhere. Does anyone have any idea where to look? how to retrieve?
Alas, less than 4 hours is asking a lot for someone to volunteer to help you.
so now, we will probably have to undo what you have just done.
On the start menu, type %appdata%\Thunderbird\profiles and press enter.
What files are in that folder?
One folder: z32n2zm4.default and when opened 58 items / with all sorts / including 6 folders called calendar data (I have never used the calendar), crashes, extensions, ImapMail, Mail, minidumps. Is this what you need. Please note: today, just now, I have updated to Win 10, if that is of interest, but the loss of emails occurred on 7 Sept.
it is very relevant. as Windows 10 dumps everything in those folders in I think Windows.old.
Actually, before I upgraded, I saved the folder to my desktop, and also to an external drive. However, maybe windows.old is a place to look?
Something else - I am receiving a popup asking if I would like to compact. Wouldn't this only occur if there were a lot of emails? However, since I only have emails (that I can see) dated since 9th of September, there are not very many. Again, doesn't this suggest that the old emails are somewhere?
I am grateful for any suggestions.
