Disable / update BitDefender
If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:
- see if there are updates for your graphics drivers

- disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

dupe thread here - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1109389 - where you asked ...
I have learned that Firefox will only work on some XP systems. Have an XP3 and would like to know WHAT VERSION would work best without the crash reports I'm receiving. ...
The issue isn't with "not working" currently, it has to do with Firefox 43.02 and later not being able to be installed thru the stub installer due to WinXP and Vista lacking a specific SHA 256 update. See this KB article for more information - How can I get the latest version of Firefox on Windows XP or Vista?
Once installed, the later versions should work OK. But in your case there is a Flash issue and one with BitDefender that appear to be causing your crashes.
Thank you all for taking the time to submit your replies. At this time, it looks like I will not be able to pursue this further tonight or tomorrow sometime .... as I will be spending most of the day at the Hospital.
I was able to check the installed software on PC. This will take a while for this SC to understand the jargon. If I have this right I did go to the downloaded programs/software and found the Flash folder, if this is correct and the place to start. I have upgraded to 44.0.2 today. There still have been occasional crashes.
Hopefully I will be able to get the rest of the picture, for you, when I can figure out the methodology. I did update all the add-ons while using 43 as somebody suggested. Then I deactivated all the add-on all with the same results. With that said .... I used Firefox for many years with outstanding results ... It was there when I needed it. It worked great. Hopefully Mozilla Support will eventually get this straightened out. Good night & will check back tomorrow. PM
Recently upgraded Firefox to 44.0.2 ..... I probably shouldn't say anymore but Firefox and the System seems to have stabilized some what. Now near as many crashes. It has become tolerable.
Now where/how can I get to this avcuf32.dll = BitDefender to make the suggested corrections? Also will/has the upgrade make any difference? Thank you very much! PM - USAF 62-66
Open the Bitdefender program. Have it check for updates and upgrades. After, if there is still a problem, disable it and contact it's support.
Please post any crash reports for the last few days.
Where to locate the Bitdefender program as it is not posted, per se, in the control panel add & remove programs. Do have adobe flash player 20 npapI ... version 20.0.0.306 . Hope that may help?

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.
I'll have to sign off for now ... suggestion is helpful as I will look into disabling hardware in Firefox and other tips you mentioned and give an update. Thank you .... sorry this SC has to sign off for now. PM

Apologize for the delay ..... Updated Firefox seems to have stabilized.
However attempts, as per instructions, to open & disable the display graphics driver as disabled it in the properties. Also the Windows Start up Update search was frugal so far. I was able, at start up, select all programs, then select Windows Update to open Windows Update website. I clicked on with left mouse button (nothing) then used right button to open. Would not open so I used properties which gave a little info. but not much. I could not find any active X controls. I know somewhere there are other settings???? I'll see what I can find ....
