This is a problem that seems to have continued through the most recent version of Firefox, and it's actually a bit worse than the previous iteration of the browser. The problem continues to be that simply scrolling through a Twitter feed for any length of time - and it seems to be particularly true when the browser tries to load embedded videos and gifs - gets you a screen that freezes, which can usually be corrected temporarily by "restoring down" and then "maximizing. Sometimes, when the browser screen doesn't fully freeze and you can see scroll bar moving up and down while seeming to drag lower graphics to the top of the newer section of page, that little temporary fixes works.

Is there any way to fix this? I've tried safe mode and all that jazz. I'm running Classic Theme Restorer as my main extension. I notice that the grey space in the tab and menus bar can sometimes mess up (i.e. looks like a ghost tab color where no tab is open). On top of this, embedded twitter videos often fail for no reason on a Twitter feed.

What kind of questions do you have for me that could perhaps help me remedy this constant situation? Anyone else experience really sloppy rendering of Twitter pages by Firefox? All of my graphic drivers are up to date, my firefox version is the most recent, all plugins (which are set to "ask") are also up to date. Currently, graphic hardware acceleration is turned off, though, I haven't really noticed any difference with this problem when it's turned on.

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

https://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

This is not a cure, but should let the web page load without crashing.

Flash block {web link} Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it

Thanks for that, I guess, but the videos not loading properly/crashing is a secondary concern to the main problem of Firefox not rendering Twitter feeds properly when you're scrolling through them. What could be the cause of that?

I will try to get a screenshot of what I'm talking about, but I did explain what was going on. I can't imagine I'm the only one who has had this problem as it's been consistent throughout many versions of Firefox.

I'd also explained in my post that the graphic drivers are up-to-date. As for Protected Mode, I found the file on my computer, but it doesn't open into anything, so I can't "change" anything in it.
