While my problem was solved via asking this question, I'm pretty sure that there must be an easier way to register with Mozilla Support. The sign-in/registration page seems to only offer a sign-in option, no registration. It seems so ridiculous for it to be this difficult to register, that I'm sure I must have missed something somewhere. Anyway, glad I'm registered now :-)

You can click the blue "Volunteer for Mozilla Support" button at the bottom of the "https://support.mozilla.org" page to go to the "https://support.mozilla.org/get-involved" page. Click "Answer questions in the support forum" to be able to "Register to be a Contributor".

It may be worth noting that we have done an emergency rollback to old (Kitsune) forum software, and the methods and procedures differ now to what they will be in a few weeks time when we go back to using the new (Lithium) software.

+1 -- I've just been round n round in circles for the best part of 45 mins untill I found this thread. You couldn't hide the words "register here" better if it was the sole objective. Unless there is good reason, defeating spammers etc, might I suggest another simple link along side sign in that then leads to all the types "registering" Yours, rather exasperated, and usually quite chill ;-)

Sorry BossBob,

Please remember we are in an emergency rollback situation. (We have been for a month, and I am not sure if it will last weeks or months longer).

Unfortunately things went wrong and Mozilla Support had to fall back on contingency plans. Unfortunately it must have been hoped there would be no need to do that. Mozilla Support is in firefighting mode rather than than in planned improvement mode. This has to be uncomfortable for anyone and everyone involved, but at least everyone on the Contributor and Admin side is trying their best to

  • Provide support.
  • Get back to a more normal situation.
  • Learn from and try to prevent similar issue in future.

Sorry we know we can not work miracles. I am sure we also acknowledge that even our best attempts will not always be good enough, but it is all open and you can join in as a helper if you wish and I am not sure there are many that do it better.

Personally I am in the UK and here I have seen near enough meltdown for a few days as the NHS struggled with ransomware issues. (The UK NHS is a large employer with a multi billion pound IT structure even if not the anecdotal worlds third largest employer) And of course BA advertised itself as a world leader in many ways but look at what happened recently (BBC is effectively a quango & may be considered biased, and I have given UK information. Please just substitute your own relevant examples)

Sept 11, 2017. The only way to register seems to be to sign up as a support contributor. The registration page, still has the register option grayed out and unavailable!
