So Password Manager is legacy. I only want to export saved logins and passwords before doing a clean install of Firefox 57 as I am having problems. Doing a clean install and demonstrates that the problem is associated with the saved profile, so I don't want to use existing profile

It is possible and the info given that your Profile is corrupt and that is why having a issue with them.

Your addons should still be there and work to extract your info.

Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 and below is no longer safe to use for every day use do to secuity issues, but 52.5.0 ESR is. This is the best way to uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved (it is stored in Users https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data ).

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-html-file

ah....can not remember the password stuff, addon no longer works. I myself have found it fast enough to take screen shots of them.

So just grab your profile and we can help you find the right file inside the .json file

There was a password exporter, but not for v57.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

I know how to unstall Firefox, and how to reinstall it. I also know that FF57 works when I use the defaults to create a new profile. The problem is that when I associate the working installation with the existing profile from the original installation I have problems with FF57. If I choose another profile I do not. I simply want to extract and save all 450 saved logins from the original profile and then try the profile without the logins. If the logins are causing the problem I want to keep a record of them that I can read for the passwords that I have forgotten. All the passwords are different. And complicated. It seems that FF57 doesn't allow me do this easily, so I will have to revert to FF56 and use password manager to create a backup. This doesn't feel like moving forward! In addition because FF57 loses the multi row boomark option boomarks are much less useful. I guess no one else needs to backup their passwords or use 60 boomarks daily. Actually as these were, for me, the biggest advantages of FF I will probably move on to Chrome or Edge as they both seem to work faster on both an 8.1 and several 10 machines. My guess is the remaining advantage of FF, to me, that it was easy to use the same profile across several machines will probably disappear soon as the synchronisation function takes over and that is actually difficult for me because of the way I use different machines. I currently selectively synchronise bookmarks, passwords and several add ons across a variety of machines.

Fact is that the crap criminals @ Mozilla are FORCING people to BUY extensions by deleting or removing legacy ones ! If you take a close look, this sectarian behavior starts with version 48.02, dropping OSX 10.6 ! I can´t even transfer my passwords from older versions ! This is an insult to each and every user !

" Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018" => if you want a extension with certainfunctionality, IT IS NOT FREE ANYMORE: PAY for it !

Mozilla, ex-open source is now on duty by the American Industry Imperialism!

You at Firefox are programers.... Why not do your users a favor and include code for backing up and restoring passwords into the app? You have backup and restore for bookmarks?

Hi,

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues.
