Installing custom-made font (which I circulate to those of my correspondents who need it) - installed in Windows XP but Thunderbird rejects it as "not installed
Dear Ladies & Gentlemen:
Some years ago, I created three fonts (using FontCreator software) based upon Times New Roman (corresponding to Regular, Bold-face, Italic) which include special characters I invented for the sake of a Russian transliteration-system I've devised so that people can follow both that language's written rules AND oral conventions without having to otherwise learn the language. These characters reflect those sounds and grammatical conventions that can't be otherwise reflected in the (un-extended standard) Latin alphabet - e.g., when is a "v" meant to be pronounced like an "f".
I successfully installed it in Windows XP (my operating system) and it works without any problems in Corel WordPerfect and Corel QuattroPro in addition to Outlook Express as well as Finale. However, I get the error message in Thunderbird when I try to select one of those fonts saying "not installed". This happens even though I added copies of those fonts in both the "Fonts" file under "WINDOWS" as well as the "fonts" file under "Mozilla Thunderbird".
Since I DO circulate copies of those three fonts with those correspondents that benefit from having them (family, friends, colleagues), I'd really DEARLY appreciate any and all help any of you can possibly provide - thanks in advance.

You will probably need to update your font to unicode. Perhaps it could be based on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyrillic_(Unicode_block)
Unfortunately my font uses non-Unicode characters; furthermore, it is based upon and modified from Latin alphabet characters. Please let me describe a few thereof: v with circumflex = 'v' that's meant to be pronounced as 'f'; v with breve = 'v' that in Cyrillic is written with the equivalent of 'g'; j with hollow and enlarged dot plus hachek (inverted circumflex) = soft sign (ь).
There are a few others: these should however give enough of the flavour.
If this issue can't be cured, I'll have to go back to Outlook Express 6, which has never given me this kind of problem. It would be nice however were this not to be forced upon me. Thanks in advance for any help that may yet be available.
