I had to do a fresh install of windows on my computer due to some errors cropping up. Signed in to my Firefox account only to find I can't see the tabs from the previous session. My phone sees them in history from "User's Firefox on DESKTOP-L" but my computer doesn't. Anybody able to help?

Are you running Firefox for Android 68, the classic browser that can install add-ons? Here is something a bit roundabout to archive a list of those tabs:

(A) Install the add-on List Tabs version 2.0.0

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/list-tabs/

(B) Open each of the desktop tabs from the list (so they are open in Android)

(C) From the menu button, run List Tabs to generate a list of the open tab titles and URLs in a new tab

(D) Zoom into the page enough to select some text and then from the pop-up menu, use Select All

(E) Paste the list into an HTML-format email message to yourself in your mail app

On your Windows 10, did you tell Windows to keep your data when it refreshed the installation? One of the options is to preserve it in a temporary folder named

C:\Windows.old

that Windows keeps for about 28 days.

Can you find such a folder on your system?

If so:

Before proceeding, please set Windows to show you hidden files and folders: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files

Then check here:

C:\Windows.old\Users\your-user-name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Can you find that folder?

If you have a profile folder there, and it has recently updated contents, then you should be on track toward finding data from prior to the reinstall.

No. I did a complete format/reinstall. I know I should have copied the profile files, but I was relying on Firefox to be able to keep the tabs in the cloud for me to fetch.

Keep in mind that synced tabs expire in seven days, so if you wait too long then they will expire on the Sync server.

That is a helpful point. However it's only been four days since the last sync and, as I mentioned previously, I can still see the tabs on my phone.

You can install the About Sync extension in Firefox 72 and newer on desktop to check what data is stored on the Sync server via the about:sync page provided by this extension.

You may have to close and restart Firefox to access the about:sync page added by this extension (see the about:about page for available about pages).

I decided to go the long route. Deleted my history for today on both the phone and computer. Then opened all the tabs on the phone. Synced the history and then used that to open the tabs on my computer. A bit annoying but I got everything recovered.
