Cant access firefox. Shows NO connection, yet i can connect to internet via INTERNET EXPLORER

I am using Windows Xp. I deleted Firefox because i can't access internet via Firefox. Shows CANNOT CONNECT. Does it all each time i try to log on to FIREFOX. Yet I can connect via Internet Explorer. I d/l Firefox 7 and still can not access the internet. HELP
