I have a really annoying issue with firefox. Every so often, it just.. deletes my cookies. Although - not all of them. Just some of them.

And there's no rhyme or reason that it does this. Every so often, I just simultaneously loose a lot of previously logged in sites, and as of the most recent firefox, the thumbnails on the new tab screen. I wish I could give more info, but there is literally no more to give. this is just random, and incredibly annoying.

Another issue I have that is unrelated is that firefox doesn't update automatically, (and yes, I have got it set to do so,) unless i go into about firefox. Then it downloads and installs the update automatically.

Hi,

One reason could be that the cookies and the cache may have a set expiry time-frame. You can try to check the cookies expiry time in Tools (Alt + T) > Options > Privacy > Show Cookies, and for the cache, enter about:cache?device=disk in the location bar. Another reason could be the settings in the Privacy tab. You can try to set Firefox will: to Remember History for testing.

I think the updates are downloaded during idle time. You can try to set app.update.download.backgroundInterval to a lower value in about:config

Ah, that makes sense for the second thing.

With regards to the cookies/cache, its set to keep everything indefinitely already.

You can try to check this in Safe Mode. Safe mode disables the installed Extensions, and themes (Appearance) in Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons. Hardware acceleration is also temporarily disabled - the manual setting is Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Use hardware acceleration when available. All these settings/options/add-ons can also be individually or collectively disabled/enabled/changed in Firefox normal mode to check if an extension, theme, option or hardware acceleration is causing issues. Disabling/enabling hardware acceleration, and some types of add-ons in normal mode may require a Firefox restart.

Ideally Clear history when Firefox closes should also be deselected.

I've tried this before - and it still did it. But it's nigh on impossible to test any further, its so completely random.

I've got all history, cache, cookies etc set to stay indefinitely, I like staying logged in.
