When I start Firefox 555.in.th comes up instead. 555 in Thai is pronounced ha ha ha!!!!
Have tried regeditexe, reset Mozilla. It doesnot appear in add ons. It shows "blank page" in default setting even after Ihave tried to make Mozilla the default browser. It has also taken over IE. hELP.

You can open the about:config page via the location bar and search for prefs that refer to 555 website and reset related user set (bold) prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value.
If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:

Sometimes a problem with Firefox and/or multiple browses may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Tried all the programs you suggested but sorry to say none worked. It creates blank page in the home page box and default. I can get Firefox after 555 has loaded by pressing the home button then I can delete 555 until I restart Firefox, then its back to square one.

Hi pedalpusher, could you check whether your shortcut has been hijacked?
right-click the icon you use to start Firefox > Properties > Shortcut tab
(If your Firefox icon is pinned to the task bar, right-click the icon, then right-click Mozilla Firefox > Properties > Shortcut tab)
The "Target" line should not have any address on it. For 64-bit Windows 7, it should be exactly the following:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

Hi jscher 200, Yes it is tacked on to Mozilla so; "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" http://555.in.th/?tn=iro_008 but even after deleting it comes back. Is there something else I can do?.
Hi cor-el Opened about:config but couldn't find it there. It is well hidden somewhere.
Hi pedalpusher, if it gets added back, there probably still is malware running on your system. Or some software that protects you from changes to shortcuts, even good changes you make yourself.
Hi jscher2000, I shall keep trying. As you say it is possible that an anti-malware program is actually working to avoid changes which may well be protecting it. I've tried several different systems including Kasparsky Premium which includes Chameleon and Rootkit scanner but no luck.
Hi jscher2000, There has been a big improvement to the 555 problem. The situation now is that on starting Firefox, 555 comes up but on a new tab with Firefox on the start page so , all I need do is delete the second tab (witth555) and then the normal Firefox home page comes up. Dont know how it happened I've used quite a lot of different anti-malware programs.
Hi jsher2000, I have finally removed 555.in.th. you were correct it had hijacked shortcuts but resisted all attempts to remove it. Then there was ADWCleaner. It managed to avoid the full scan but, there is a collection of tabs that scan specific areas. Clicked on SHORTCUTS tab and the beast was revealed. It showed in firefox and IE. Click next and bye bye 555 and all who sail in her. After restart a log is displayed showing all details of the scan. ADWCleaner is freeware amazingly. There are two optional doownloads but I declined those, no problem. I will be sending them a donation (non obligatory). I hope this will be helpful to other sufferers of 555. Thanks for your help also
