I have tried to make comcast.net email my home page and google / ask keeps coming up it also comes up when I click on firefox. I think google is messing it up

I think that google has somehow hacked on my computer. My homepage is google ASK. When I try to go onto Firefox it diverts back to google ask. When I tried to make comcast.net email my homepage it wouldnt let me.

  • Go to about:config page.
  • Search for browser.startup.homepage change its value to:
    • about:home – default.
    • about:blank – blank page.
    • about:newtab – new tab page.
    • URL – an url of one page that you want.
  • Or search for browser.startup.page change its value to:
    • 0 - start with a blank page (about:blank).
    • 1 - start with the web page(s) defined as the home page(s). (Default)
    • 2 - load the last visited page.
    • 3 - resume the previous browser session.

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
