can't view videos in some chat rooms
I believe the videos that I can't view are Flash or MP4's using Firefox 38...I can view these video's using Google Chrome Browser but that Browser crashes a lot and like Firefox better. Any suggestions? These videos are played in a Chat room. Thank you.

Hi mnrwronl, Could it be having more than one video player, I do not think so (thinking out loud)
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
- Open Firefox Options window (Preferences on Mac or Linux) as follows:
- In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button and select Options for Windows or Preferences on Mac or Linux.
- In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
- In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the Advanced tab, then select General.
- In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
- Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Hi...sorry neither of those suggestions worked but was a smart way to go...my video card was up to date and unchecking the hardware acceleration box didn't work either...thank you for trying to help me.

If this does not happen for others in the chat room, is it possible to eliminate what is not the issue? For example I would also suggest to try a new profile in Firefox to make sure its not a changed setting or an issue with an add on:
I think the issue might be that I'm using XP OS but then it doesn't bother me using Google Chrome...nothing has been changed in my profile I spend over 40 hours a week on the computer so I see and hear every quirk it has...my video card is fully up to date on it's drivers, I'm using NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT card for my video end... I ran with my addons off to see if there was any change (nothing)...it's something just can't find it maybe the next update might fix it...thank you for your ideas.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
Hi FredMcd...I didn't start in safe mode but did refresh Firefox and that didn't work just didn't feel like doing the safe mode at least not tonight...thank you for your help...the site did say it's a known issue with Firefox and should change Browsers so I use Google Chrome if i want to watch videos then back to Firefox because Google's crashing every night gets on my nerves...Thank you for your help.

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
- make sure you have the latest Flash version:

Hi...I have the latest Flash 18.0.0.160 and my Graphics card has the latest driver update...been there and done all this first...I now believe this is something I have to live with until Firefox fixes it in one of there updates...my work around is using NetVideoHunter software for now...thank you.
