How do I clear the cache for one specific web site?
When I log in to one particular web site on Firefox (41.0.1 with Windows 7), I started getting the message that the site is temporarily unavailable. I can access the web site with other browsers. The tech support staff for the site tell me that if I clear the cookies and cache for the site I will be able to access the site again on Firefox. I have located and deleted the cookies, but I don't know how to delete the cache for this one specific site. What should I do? Thanks.

That is not possible. Clearing the cache is all or nothing. For the cookies there is the Cookie Manager that allows to clear individual cookies.
An alternative for clearing specific data is "Forget About This Site", but that will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious.
Thanks. This was what I thought. What do I lose if I clear the entire cache? Will I have any significant problems? Is there any good reason not to clear the entire cache to improve access to this one site? Thanks again. H
This is more likely something where cookies are involved and Im not sure if clearing thre cache would have any effect. Clearing Google cookies would make Google sites forget about you.
A detail like a website remembering you (log you in automatically) is stored in a cookie.
You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you:
- Create a cookie 'allow' exception to keep such cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
- Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions
You can remove the cookies from a website to make the website forget about you.
