Hi , I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and Firefox 45.0. It's been over a month now that Firefox keeps crashing every few minutes. In the beginning I thought it only happened in YouTube, but now it happens all the time and for all sites. I disabled all plugins, started in safe mode (still crashes in safe mode), and followed instructions of how to refresh the browser. So far none of these solutions helped.

Your browser says it have unknown plugin which seems as virus best way is to reset it. Hello,

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

unknown plugin where?

If you mean Extension listed as {972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd} then that is the ID of the default Firefox theme.

Note this is on Linux and not Windows and the Refresh feature is a overkill way of creating a new Profile to test.
