History is not saving, awesome bar autocorrect also not working.
My Firefox has stopped tracking/showing my history. I can still use the back key or look at my recently closed tabs, however. The awesome bar has also stopped working altogether, with no autocorrecting for anything. I tried to use the "Places maintenance" add-on, but it is stuck on the "fetching stats" screen and is not working at all. I also tried updating my Firefox and "refreshing" it to see if it was one of my add-ons, but that didn't help either. Bookmarks are fine.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).
- Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
- Deselect: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

As I mentioned in my initial post, the add-on that you suggested has already been tried and is not working. I am not in private browsing mode, and I have Firefox set to remember history. I already checked and tried everything in those pages you linked, which is why I'm asking here. I must also repeat that my bookmarks old and new are absolutely fine, it is my history and the awesome bar that are messed up.
Did you try to remove the places.sqlite file?
If the Places Maintenance extension can't repair the places.sqlite database then remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
- keep a backup copy of places.sqlite in case a new places.sqlite database has to be created

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
