Environet is a monitoring program that presents its information as a collection of web pages. It uses the java environment pretty heavily in Windows but I can't get it to display its info in either Chrome or Firefox when I'm running linux mint 18.1 and the cinnamon interface.

When you say it uses "the Java environment" do you mean that it requires the Java plugin (JRE or JVM)? Your plugins list does not show that plugin being enabled (or possibly not even installed). This is something you would install from your distribution's site or Oracle's site; Firefox does not come with plugins.

On the other hand, if the service is supposed to work in Google Chrome/Chromium, then it must be able to run without the Java plugin.
