Hi all,

This morning when I opened up Firefox, it told me to wait a bit while it installed the newest updates. Okay, it started up on a blank page. "No biggie", I thought. Typed in duckduckgo.com (which is my home page) and nothing loaded, just a blank white page. I tried google.com and: Blank page. Hmm... I started clicking on random bookmarks and same: Blank page for every single one. The url was still there, typed out, but nothing happened. Just blank white page.

I reverted back to Chrome (which I abhor) and it is working fine. IE is fine also. Connected to Audible and purchased a book without troubles. So it is definitely Firefox.

HELP PLEASE

It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Ran Avast and Malwarebytes, quarantined a handful of threats found, removed then added Firefox from Firewall permissions to no avail. Still blank page on any url attempted.

Also disabled all anti-virus and security software. Still blank.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect.

You can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Do a clean reinstall of the current Firefox release and delete the Firefox program folder before installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows Registry and settings in security software.

  • do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall the current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

  • (64-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (32-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you uninstall and reinstall or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

Did everything suggested above and still just blank. I'm going to backup my bookmarks and completely clean out the machine of Firefox. If it doesn't work after that, I don't know what then.

Hey, I am at my wit's end here. I removed everything Firefox and did a brand spanking new install (after running all antivirus software on machine and restarting with it clean). No profile issue... Blank page still :-(

So pretty much, after searching all the forum, I've realized it's one of those "reboot and pray" situations. I turned my firewall completely and still nothing. Blank page for any address. Feeling lost

You're not using Sandboxie by any chance, are you  ?

Am not using Sandboxie (but thanks for asking). It seems like we had a good run, but this may the end for me. Everyone always touted Chrome over Firefox (which I thought was sh#tty!), yet, alas, I feel I may wind up eating my own words as I convert :-(

The last update did something wonky on my machine and now Mozilla gifts me with nothing more than blank pages.

I removed all antivirus software, disabled the firewall, started in safe mode, etc... Maybe I'll try a half-pipe off the laptop for good measure ;-)

It's been all to no avail.

And as I write now from ancient Internet Explorer my heart breaks with every keystroke.

The Firefox flag goes up at half mast today.

What else can I do?

Go on Safari? (gag)

This is too ridiculous for words - like some SciFi story.

Call me stubborn, call me an idiot if you like, but would you please let us know which extensions you have installed and which security and anti-virus software  ? Yeah, I know : you've disabled them all, but just to make 100% sure ...... There's got to be a solution - somehow  !
