If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
While you are in Safe Mode;
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.
How to disable Hardware Acceleration {web link}
Hi Fred,
Thank you for your response to my question. I have not yet done the things you suggest because this problem just happened to me today and I am very cautious with my computer. I have already had the geek squad in my computer and there was nothing they could do. Compuserve could not help me either and told me it was a firefox problem rather than a compuserve problem. The problems not being able to log in with firefox have been considerable today. I cannot bookmark my mail, I don't even know how to put them in favorites which are the content of other browsers. I love firefox and don't want to use another browser nor do I want to lose access to other websites where the settings would be taken away. I still don't know exactly what to do. Are you sure that your instructions would fix my problem? I can ask the geek squad to read your instructions and try to apply them to the problem but I don't always get a great technician from geek squad. Looks like I may have to change my 20 year compuserve account and go with gmail or some other mail.
Thank you again. Sharon

We won't know that unless you try the above.
