Facebook won't show notifications without refreshing the page
Facebook is not showing notification alerts for me without refreshing the page.
To be clear, I'm not referring to the pop-up desktop notifications that you have to enable on a per-site basis. I'm referring to the notifications native to Facebook that show up in the notification area of the site when you have activity or a new message.
I have uBlock Origin installed, but the issue persists after restarting Firefox in safe mode. I've also tried clearing cookies to no avail. I'm on Firefox Quantum 60.0.1.
Edit: Tried refreshing Firefox, did not fix the issue

I don't understand... why should I need an add-on for basic Facebook functionality?
I do not use Facebook much, so I'll need you to point out where you're looking for notifications. I know when I first log in there is a number on an icon, does the number fail to change until you reload the page? What about the number on the tab, for example, "(8) Facebook"?

Yes, both of those. However, I just discovered that the issue persists in Chrome and Edge, too, so it must be a Facebook issue, though I am very confused, because it has been like this for a couple weeks now.
Hmm, if all three browsers are affected, could it be an external filter, such as your security software? Perhaps the address used to listen for notifications is on a block list.

It's happening on both my work PC behind a corporate firewall and home PC actually. I'm at a loss... it might just be my Facebook account, somehow.
