How to find installed addon in Firefox?
Hi :) I got some more addons installed. No, i dont want to deinstall some. Yes, i need and use all of them. No, they do not slow down my Browser. Yes, you may have not a hunch of that?
It seems in Firefox with Shift+Ctrl+A and about:addons you can only search addons on addons.mozilla.org. Or have i overlooked something?
Why does FF not have this usefull feature? It is faster to type text fragments to find an installed addon than to scroll down the list. All Chrome Browser got this option and it works fine :)
thx

Some add-ons are pre-installed by Mozilla and would not show. Is there an add-on you are trying to find? or perhaps its icon?
Usually your list of installed extensions isn't so long that you need to search. What did you want to search for? If it's part of the title you can use the Find feature (and also copy/paste) on the Troubleshooting Information page. But the descriptive phrase isn't listed there.
To open that page, either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter/Return
Scroll down past the Application Basics and Firefox Features tables, or use Find (Ctrl+f) to jump to Extensions).
More generally:
Support volunteers are limited in what we can do: we work with existing settings, add-ons, and workarounds; we can't change Firefox itself. To submit feature suggestions, you could use one or more of the following (depending on whether you want a suggestion box or a discussion):
- Feedback: https://qsurvey.mozilla.com/s3/FirefoxInput/
- Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/
- Twitter: https://twitter.com/firefox
- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Firefox
For what it is worth. I can open the find bar on the about:addons page, but it doesn't find anything in richlistitem tags in the richlistbox that contains the extensions (does find text in the 'Missing something?' warning text).
I want to find an addon by typing text fragments, so that i can find it quick and easy. I got 40 addons enabled AND 40 disabled. So i do not know all addons i got.
There should be 2 search fields: 1 online on addons.mozilla.org 1 offline for the installed addons
All Chrome Browsers got this useful feature.

There are 2 jscher2000 mentioned it.
1 online on addons.mozilla.org Which only searches for add-ons to be installed.
2 Copy/Paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
3 and a 3rd way : Copy/Paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter. Go down the list to the heading Extensions.
So would you please clarify what you are looking to do please.

The way the about:addons page currently is constructed is not compatible with the "Find in page" feature. Hopefully that will be updated in the future. For now we could only suggest workarounds. To suggest changes, please see my earlier reply with links.

If you need to locate an extension for its Options/Preferences button or for more information on about:addons then there is no real workaround, but at least the extensions are sorted alphabetically. Otherwise the best workaround is to use about:support to have a lost if you aren't certain of the name of the extension.

A modified (not yet existant) link like: about:support#Extensions would help :)
We have to wait

To be fair, I think three people posting in this thread understood what the poster was looking for.
I have an add-on that does this (searching for add-ons), but like many add-ons, it is not compatible with Quantum :-(

Thx. What's it's name? :) I would try following: "Make Firefox Extensions Compatible with a Simple Hack" https://lifehacker.com/5494670/make-firefox-extensions-compatible-with-a-simple-hack

The old fix of changing the maxversion won't help after Firefox 56. Actually, it won't help after Firefox 48 because it will invalidate the digital signature on the extension.

You did not get it yet?... please do not post such nonsense. thx.
at last: I want to search for installed Firefox addons, them that are ON MY computer and NOT online! The online usability searching for addons online should also be available offline for own addons :)
