I have error message saying Connection to server imap.virginmedia.com timed out. anyone know what to do to cure this?

I have window 10 and Thunderbird email and have a problem with emails. When I log onto my emails I get a message saying "connection to server imap.virginmedia.com timed out." Does anyone have a solution for this for a numpty at IT?

If so I'd be very pleased to hear it.

Hello AlanYandall,

Do you have any security software installed like AVG  ?

If so, would you disable it please and see if that will make a difference  ?

I have disabled the AVG and the problem still exists. Thanks for the help!!
