I recently updated firefox and the new (to me) file selector you get when you click on a file upload button only has clickable options. The old file selector had a field where I could begin *typing* a file name (I know, I am totally old school and like to actually type file names, whichI no one does anymore). The click only interface does not work well for me -- to many files and directories to scroll through (and the new scrollbars are horrible and nearly unusable).

That is not possible. You can click the Browse button and then navigate to the folder you want to use. If should be possible to create some favorite folders in the bar at the left end or pick a folder from the Recent list.

Well that just plain sucks. I guess I will just have to create a directory for putting symlinks to files I plan on uploading...

I think that you can drag a file and drop it on the Browse button.

Nope. I don't (refuse to) use a grahical file manager. *I* never drag and drop files. I am very old school -- *I* only ever *type* file names -- I use Linux and deal with file management in a *terminal* window, using the basic file system tools: ls, mv, cp, etc.
