How can I make Firefox replace a previously downloaded file by a new download?
When downloading an (updated) file, i.e. a csv list, Firefox adds a number like "(1)" to the filename. How can I force Firefox to replace the file under the original name. The reason for this is that I access the file from a EXCEL Power Query pointing to the original name. In Chrome this can be achieved by an addon. Thanks for help

This seems to be impossible in Firefox...
Did you look for an extension with that functionality for Firefox? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/
Of course an extension would be helpful. That is the way Google Chrome solves the problem. But I would prefer to stick to Firefox...
Sorry, Firefox doesn't have a built-in feature like that. The feature that Firefox does have is adding that serial number for same name downloaded files.
Yes, I know that Firefox has not built-in feature. That is why I hoped there was an add-on like for Chrome. But I could not find any such add-on. A pity.
Firefox only adds a number if you download and save the file automatically. If you select the 'ask' choice for downloading files then you can replace/overwrite the current file. If you would always overwrite a file without asking for a confirmation then this would easily lead to dataloss.
