firefox wont save web pages
Hello. I am unable to save web pages for later offline viewing. I have followed the instructions, using the upper right menu>save page as> and save as complete web page is selected. I created a new folder on my desktop for the complete web pages so I could easily just open them up and read them at a later time. However after a save, when I go to that folder, it is completely empty.
Thank you

Hi daveandangel1989, Have you checked in your downloads folder?
3-bar Menu -> Library -> Downloads -> Show Downloads Folder

No because I saved to the folder I created on my desktop. Would it go there even though I selected my specially made folder on the desktop?
Correct. It should go to the folder that you selected. At least, that's the way that it's working for me. It should show up in your Downloads Library, though.

It doesn't though, looking there it has the web page name but it says failed.
But the empty folder I created on my desktop is really baffling. I save the page and it looks like it saved, but opening the folder reveals an empty folder.
Happens with any web page, so its not a specific web address problem, it just wont save pages.
I have PC Matic I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
I'm not familiar with PC Matic but, have you had any issues with other downloads? Maybe try temporarily disabling that, or any other extensions that you might suspect, and try again.
I just looked up PC Matic and it has -
"Download Protection As we mentioned, PC Matic uses a whitelist of good applications and processes that are authorized to run on your computer. That means that PC Matic antivirus will automatically block the download of suspicious or blacklisted programs with potential malware."
Maybe if you add https://support.mozilla.org, or whichever site, to the whitelist.

I had to work, sorry for the delay. Yes I had turned off PCmatic and also windows firewall crap, left it baren and wide open, tried the download of a few pages, still empty folder, no download happened, no save happened.
I found some other information that might be relevant:
"sometimes different Windows user permissions are required for the final download destination vs. the temp folder. If you are trying to save the file outside your regular Windows profile folders (e.g., not under your regular Downloads or Documents folder), there might be a permissions issue."
and:
"You can check if you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts. The user.js file will only be present if you or other software has created this file and normally won't be present.
You can check its content with a text editor (right-click: "Open with"; do not double-click). The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.
You can delete the user.js file if you didn't create this file yourself.
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
- Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Directory:
- Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder
