Thunderbird 78.6 (32x) Windows 10 Pro 20H2 Today I stumbled with a problem, this was not the case before. File extensions for Documents attached to an incoming letter are truncated. So for the Excel file, the extension is .xls_ instead of .xlsx As a result, the document does not tear off. You need to save the file, change the extension in the explorer, only then you can open it.
