My Antivirus (Bitdefender) did a full system scan and found a Trojan hidden in one of Firefox's files.

Trojan description: JS:Trojan.Cryxos.6249

Location: firefox/profiles../cache2/entries..

It was automatically deleted. No idea for how long its been there. could it have have done some damage unknown to my Antivirus ? How dangerous is it? Are there any further steps to take ?

The cache2 folder stores the web content cache, so usually that means it was a script embedded in a page you visited that Firefox has retained for convenience in case you visit that site again. Which probably you do not want to do!

I don't think there's any way to know what exactly happened when you visited the site, even with more research. If you have a full file name or other information, you can search for the file on the about:cache page (disk cache). However, it might not be possible to track it down.

This article lists the steps for flushing out the cache without losing other data: How to clear the Firefox cache ("Cached web content" only, don't remove all of your cookies and site data).

Hi

I would recommend that you clear your browsing history further to the guide at:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/delete-browsing-search-download-history-firefox

(This will log you out of some websites, so make sure you have a record of your usernames and passwords.)

In addition to this, I would make sure that your copy Windows, your antivirus software and other software on you device is up to date.
