The extensions button on the toolbar was added in Firefox 109 and is used to access and manage your enabled extensions. Firefox does not provide a way to remove the extensions button. Although there's an advanced preference to disable the unifiedExtensions feature, this is not supported. Later this year extensions will move their manifest from MV2 to MV3. With MV3 you have more control on what pages the extension is active (enabled) and you need to allow the MV3 extension for each origin. The new Extensions button provides the UI to manage those permissions and enable the extension and without this button MV3 extensions will be dead (disabled) on all webpages.

Sooner or later the 'solution' you have chosen will stop extensions working.

So freaking annoying that i have to scour the internet constantly looking for ways to just make things do what they have always done. It would be a so much better user experience if you would have simply asked, something like "This is unified extensions, this is how it works, do you want to enable it?" Instead of forcing it on people and making them figure out how to undo it.

Who was the genius that decided this should be implemented without the option to hide it? I think we should stop listening to them when it comes to design decisions. They aren't thinking clearly.

I totally agree with Mark Faine. Users shouldn't have to scour the internet to solve problems that could have intuitive solutions. Why are firefox developers so proud to hide so much functionality behind about:config? Don't they realize it's a hassle that no user wants to deal with? Please make better design decisions in the future. I know you're capable, you just keep listening to the wrong people.
