firefox updates
I have firefox updates set to auto. But I want them to load updates when im not using the browser. What currently happens is I open the browser only to get shanghaid by the update process. I dont want that. when I open the browser I want to go straight to what i am doing. I dont want to have to sit there and wait while the browser updates. If it did updates once a month or less it wouldnt be such an issue but the damn browser is updating every few days or even every day and it always wants to do it when I want to do my own work. IS there not a way for the browser to update while im asleep at 3 am? When Im not wanting to use it. Its so irritating. It causes me to not bother with updates. I dont want to comply. When IM given a choice for any updating I set updates to install in the early hours when Im not inconvenienced by it. How can I do this with firefox?

Are you using NordVPN as its "Web Protection" has been reported to cause issues with updating?
NordVPN may have fixed it, so if you use this extension then check for updates.
No I dont have Nord VPN. The question is can firefox be set to update when Im not using it or in the background when I am without it interfering with what im doing? Does it always have to update when I open it to useit? Does it have to update so frequently? Are there ways to reset it to be more convenient.
It's normal for Firefox to have one major update every 4 weeks, and it's very common to have one or two bug fix releases between major updates. This cycle had 3 bug files.
I don't think there is any way to update Firefox without Firefox running. Or to put that differently, as far as I know, there isn't a dedicated updater separate from Firefox itself. Perhaps you can start and shutdown Firefox in the early morning hours using a scheduled task? If Firefox is set to restore your session at startup, that could be a bit messy to manage unattended.
