If I set Google Safe Search off, and then close Firefox, it resets back to "Moderate SafeSearch" without me doing anything. I tried the recommended fix- changing the "prefs" folder and such, but that did not fix my problem.

I just figured out that if you simply disable the extension in Tools->Add-ons, it will stop with that annoying hijack of your default search setting.

Unfortunately, I seem to be unable to uninstall this extension via Tools->Add-ons. Guess I'm going to have to fish it out manually

I fixed this by going to the Firefox program folder on my computer. Go to the subfolder called searchplugins

Delete the text file with the lock on it. Mine was named 'search'.

Firefox should default to the setting that you have specified in keyword url.
