You are in permanent private browsing mode. To stop Firefox opening in permanent private browsing mode do this:

  1. Open the Options window and go to the Privacy panel
  2. Change the setting "Firefox will" to "Remember history", alternatively if you set it to "Use custom settings for history", de-select the setting "Permanent Private Browsing mode"
