Firefox is not currently compatible with some web sites, such as the Federal Student Loan site, will this change anytime soon?
Since the newest version of Firefox, some of the web sites I went to before are no longer compatible, (such as the site for the Federal Student Loan programs), and, the previous Google toolbar, as well as the ShopAtHome toolbar did not work, but they made that one compatible already. According to Google, their toolbar will be compatible soon. Is there anything I can do when encountering these type if issues? I don't want to be forced to open my Internet Explorer because I don't use it anymore. Thank you.

There will no longer be an update for the Google toolbar because Google has ended support.
See this for alternatives that can be used to regain lost functionality that was supplied by the GT.

Where did you read that Google was going to update the Google Toolbar for Firefox?
http://googletoolbarhelp.blogspot.com/2011/07/update-on-google-toolbar-for-firefox.html - that is the latest information I have seen.
Plus, recent changes at Google with them renaming their "accounts" domain will break all exiting Google Toolbar programs in existence.

You can install the latest portable Firefox 3.6.x version to access websites like FAFSA that do not work with Firefox 5+.
I am not sure what a portable version of a program is but I will look it up through the help area. Thank you.
It seems I have made a mistake... it was the ShopAtHome toolbar that informed me they were updating their toolbar to be compatible, and they have already fixed the problem. I like the Google toolbar so I hope they will follow them and provide a fix soon.
