Cumulative memory hog
Dear Mozilla,
Firefox was the best web browser. but now the recent version is a cumulative memory hog. It eats up the RAM slowly with time and finally crashing, even the computer hangs. I disabled all the addons, and followed the instructions given in FAQ, but nothing worked. I am really worried, if this is not corrected in time then we will be forced to go for that useless chrome.
Typical issue: Every new tab, memory increases. When I close all tabs the memory does not decrease, it stays there, even if it is a blank page.

Hi,
It looks like you have the Flash plugin installed. You might want to check to see if it needs updating using this procedure: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/installing-flash#w_keeping-flash-up-to-date
Thanks for replying, I updated the flash player. But the problem perisits. I have three computers, two at home and one is that of office. The memory hog problem is there in every PC since the latest version of firefox is released. Is this a bug in firefox 8 ?
My office PC is running on Linux (ubuntu), and still the story is same. The memory increases indefinitely with time.
I request mozilla to SERIOUSLY look into this issue. It basically handicaps such a fine browser.
I wish firefox responds to my query. I no longer wish to work with firefox because of the obvious reason, it sks my RAM. I am forced to go for Chrome, atleast because it releases the memory when the tabs are closed. Bye firefox for the time being. I will be waiting from the mozilla for an update.
This problem is a big pain. Nothing I do seems to improve the situation. Clearing the cache, exiting, and starting over resets it, but then the memory suck begins all over again, growing to well over 500 MB at which point closing tabs (i only have 4 tabs going) does no good.
Here's what it boils down to. Apparently a lot of people are having issues. I shouldn't have to tweak my system or disable everything in sight on my PC. I don't have problems using any other browser. I have been a loyal fan of firefox since it started and have gone back to IE (sadly) because of this memory hog issue. Never had the problem before Mozilla, why all of a sudden? Listen to your users....or you won't have any.
