Firefox 28 for Mac OS 10.6.8 will not let me log in on some sites.
I was encountering this issue with Firefox 23. I upgraded to Firefox 28 and the problem persists. It's not limited to logging in though. Sometimes when I am filling out online forms and press submit at the bottom of the form, nothing happens.
Recently, I had to reset my password on a web site. After the password was reset, I was able to enter my user name and new password; but, when I clicked on the sign in button, nothing happened. There was no spinning arrow or anything to indicated that Firefox was even trying to log me in.
Sometimes online forms will let me enter my name but not my zip code. Sometimes the form wants my entire mailing address and Firefox will let me enter data up to a point, then it stops. I find it exasperating at times and am wondering if there is some way to fix this problem.

It is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted if clearing cookies doesn't work.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Hello,
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:
- Go to Tools > Clear recent history. (For Mac, it should be Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Clear your Recent History) My Mac knowledge is a little cloudy but in the App bar near the Apple logo, find Preferences.
- Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
- Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
- From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
- Now click the Clear now button.
Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you.

I empty cache and cookies on a regular basis. To be honest, I was not having this particular issue when I was using Firefox 17. It started happening while I was using Firefox 23. I thought that upgrading to Firefox 28 might fix the problem; but, it didn't. Your suggestion did not help fix this issue.

I restarted Firefox in Safe Mode and went to one of the web sites where I was having a problem with signing in. This time, I was able to enter my sign in information and press the log in button. I actually got signed in. Then I quit Firefox and started it back up as I normally would. The site let me sign in again. So for this particular site, the problem seems fixed.
