Hi ingo555, the crash report you are posting is from a previous version of Firefox. Could you please retry this with Firefox 29?

Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).

(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item:
FirefoxSafeMode

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode" Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

Thank you.

Hi Guys,

I updated to FF 29 and remove custom theme back to default. I disabled some add-on and extensions. It's still crashing a couple of times a day.

Any suggestions?

Ingo, I can see in the dump that you are not yet running in safe mode - is that right? I still see still extensions and plugins that are non-default. Although I understand that you may need some of these, it's important to narrow down the issue to follow the safe mode steps. Debapriya has given an extensive explanation on the steps to take.

Ok, I understand. Today I will run FF the whole day in Safe mode and lets see what happen. I am in ICT Bangkok, Thailand.

ingo555:

Can you do two things for me?

1) Can you start by giving us the troubleshooting information from the Firefox installation that's having problems. This is an essential step in troubleshooting.

  • Click the Firefox button at the top left, then click the Help menu and select Troubleshooting Information from the sub-menu. If you don't have a Firefox button, click the Help menu at the top and select Troubleshooting Information from the menu.

Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.

  • At the top of the page, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.
  • Now, go back to your forum post and click inside the reply box. Press Ctrl+V to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.

2) If Firefox opens up fine with no problems, it's probably one of your extensions that's causing the issue. You can re-enable your add-ons one by one until you find the one that causes the issue upon being re-enabled.
( If this suggestion works, please ignore step 1)

Ooh, looks like Firefox crashed a few times a day. Let's see if I can't figure out what's up. It looks like it's related to some sort of extension but I can't be sure

You say Firefox worked fine in Safe Mode. If Firefox opens up fine with no problems in Safe Mode, it's probably one of your extensions that's causing the issue. Read below to get into Safe Mode again.

  • Windows/Mac: Go to Help > Restart with add-ons disabled

You should re-enable each of your add-ons in Safe Mode (as they are disabled) one-by-one to pinpoint which add-on is misbehaving. I have a suspicion about premiumize but that's just me.

more options

I use premiumize to have a proxy. Some website are blocked by my ISP and I need it to run 24/7.

Ok I will try that and lets see. Is there any particular website i can visit that would help speed up the progress? (If that make sense)

Hey, I can't enable any extension in Safe Mode. Only "disable" or "remove".

..but they are all "disabled".

Be sure you are in Safe Mode! You MUST close Firefox down before opening in Safe Mode. You can also try to start Safe Mode by doing the following while Firefox is completely closed

  • Hold down the OPTION key while clicking the Firefox icon in your Applications Folder or your Dock

See attached Screenshot.

  1. Open your profile folder: Ways to open below
  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory > Show Folder

or

  • Go to about:support and click Show Folder next to Profile Directory.
  1. Close Firefox
  2. Delete the following files if they exist, extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini and extensions.sqlite
  3. Re-start Firefox, it will then rebuild the list on installed extensions

After this, restart in Safe Mode and try to enable your add-ons.

extensions.cache NOT EXIST extensions.rdf NOT EXIST extensions.ini OK extensions.sqlite OK

But still I can't enable Add-Ons or Extensions.

A shot in the dark but you can try to disable hardware acceleration.

Firefox has hardware acceleration set to "on" by default, but it's still young, which means some video cards or drivers might have problems with it. You can try to disable hardware acceleration to see if that alleviates your problems.

You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Then perform these steps for Firefox version 29.0 and above:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select {menu Options} for Windows or {menu Preferences} on Mac or Linux. For Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
  • In the Firefox options window, click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
  • In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
  • Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
