Since last night, I cannot get into Hotmail with any regularity. Sometimes I get in, and when I check I can see the trusted certificate details. Other times I get the warning that Hotmail is NOT a trusted site and the certificate shows this info also. This can happen all in one session of using the computer. Sometimes I am logged into Hotmail okay, but when I try to send an email, I can't. Other times I CAN send. I am using Firefox but this happens also on Explorer. My date and time are correct. I have run my virus checker; all is okay there. I can access Hotmail on my phone with no problems. I am using Windows 8.1. Hotmail has worked for months on this Toshiba computer and for years on other computers. I trust it but don't even get an option to allow it when i get the "untrusted" notice.

Have you tried Hotmail.com or something else ?

Check your computer for Microsoft Live Mail program. This should bypass any issues the browsers have.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.

I just tried Hotmail.com and Microsoft Live Mail. No luck. Then I disabled the only 2 plug-ins I had which were Adobe acrobat and Shockware flash. Then I restarted the computer. I got into Hotmail and could send and receive mail. Then I closed Firefox and reopened it. At this point I could no longer get into Hotmail. That's what i mean when I say it's intermittent. I was able to capture screen shots showing the "no secure certificate" and "certificate is secure" ===all within 15 minutes! Thanks for your help. I am willing to try anything you might think of.
