Hello lconn1460
Sorry about the issue you are having. I believe i can help you on this.
First we need to delete the emails in your inbox and sent to create an archive that we can delete.
Compacting removes hidden 'marked as deleted' emails. So, it is no use compacting if you have not deleted emails. You have to delete first, then compact.
If you do not want to delete sent emails, you need to Archive them. Make sure your 'Archive Options' have been set up by monthly archived folders (if you send on a regular daily basis) and select to 'keep exisitng folder structure of archived messages'. click on OK
then Archive anything in Sent folder thats older than a month. Archiving still keeps emails viewable via Thunderbird, but they are moved out of the regular Sent folder into an Archived Sent folder, so releasing space.
Now we can delete them.
Kindly let me know if you have any more questions.
You posted in the Firefox support forum. Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, let us know and we can move this thread to the Thunderbird queue. This question currently is in the Firefox queue for answers.

Hi Edmeister
This should be in Thunderbird indeed.
Thanks for the pointer.
Maybe it's a question about web mail?
