checking add-ons, Java platform SE 7 U45 10.45.2.18 is high lighted (exclamation in red triangle) with msg "known to be vulnerable and should be updated". Windows says that I already have most recent update of Java. FF add-on has a button to update this add-on, but in the interest of not fixing what isn't broken, I hesitate to use this method to update. Is the update needed and why? thanks. shockwave Flash 18.0.0.194

Java runs interactive online applications like videos, chats, browser games and much more. It runs in the background of your favorite news sites, facebook, online shops, online bank account and many other places. Known vulnerabilities in Java spread across the internet very fast, making it easy for attackers to exploit them and attack your privacy and safety on the internet. Upgrading is highly recommended to protect your data and make the internet safer for you and other users. Update from the original sources only - for Java, from http://www.java.com/en/
