I just downloaded the Thunderbird 38.2 .dmg on an iMac running Yosemite 10.10.5. I dragged the application into the application folder - no problem. Started it up and it asks f I want it to be the default. I click yes and that window closes, the beach ball emerges and that's it - infinite beach party.

I did the same thing recently with a MacBook Pro and things worked fine. The main difference is that this iMac is running a network account while the MacBook Pro has a local account. I suspect some issue with that. Any thoughts? TIA

Not familiar with the (obviously OSX) term of network account. is this a domain joined PC? Are the user account files stored remotely. Do you have root access if needed?
