Firefox works in safe mode, and immediately after "refreshing" firefox completely, but after that it can't connect to the internet.

As of firefox update 44.0, I cannot get firefox to work properly. Trying to connect to any website gets stuck at "Connecting." I have no add-ons, extensions, or themes installed, and I tried all of the suggested troubleshooting with hardware acceleration etc.

The only time firefox will run is in safe mode, or immediately after I "refresh" firefox completely. As soon as I close and re-open it after a refresh, it stops working again. I have tried updating and disabling all plug-ins as well.

This likely goes without saying but internet connection is fine otherwise.

Also tried updating and disabling all firewalls/internet protection programs and cleanly uninstalling/reinstalling (not keeping any profile data).
