I am getting rid of old e-mail. Will Mozilla Thunderbird save all of the e-mails even after I have gotten rid of the account?
I currently have a TDS e-mail account. I have just switched to Verizon with a Jet Pack for my internet. I installed Mozilla Thunderbird on my computer to put all of my TDS e-mails on to save them. My question is- Does Thunderbird actually save the e-mails or does it just retrieve the e-mails from an active account. I am planning on getting rid of the TDS account but would still like to see all of my e-mails from that account.

It depends. IMAP is server based. POP downloads them to your computer. Which one are you using?
Messages that you p!ace in folders under Thunderbird's special account, Local Folders, are on your local drive and not subject to any actions by your provider. If you want to be sure to keep messages place copies under Local Folders. Then take Thunderbird offline and make sure you have the entire message and not just the header before deleting your account with the provider. I suggest using copy instead of move so if anything goes wrong during the process you have the original intact.
