Make sure you sign out from the site before closing the browser.

I do sign out. Unfortunately that does not solve the problem.

Have you ever saved a login for the site in Firefox's Password Manager? You can clear saved logins you no longer want here:

Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences

In the left column, click Security. Then on the right side, find the "Saved Logins" button.

This is also the area where you could (1) turn off the Password Manager or (2) add a Master Password to prevent Firefox from using saved logins until you enter that master key.

If it's not a saved login in Firefox, do you use any password manager add-ons?

Thank you for taking the time to try to help me. I never saved a login for the site. But, I went to the Saved Logins area just to be sure and there were none listed. The boxes for "remember logins for sites" and "use a master password" were not checked. I could not find "turn off the Password Manager". I do not use a password manager add-on (that I know of). I really don't even know what an add-on is. But, I do not have this issue with any other website. Keep thinking jscher2000 and thanks again.

A detail like a website remembering you (log you in automatically) is stored in a cookie.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you:

• You can create a cookie "Allow" exception to keep specific cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
• Options/Preferences -> Privacy -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: Exceptions

Thank you cor-el. I followed your instructions and I blocked the website from storing cookies. However, now when I go to the website, I get the login page, but it says "Disabled Cookies Detected: You may experience problems, click HERE for details"

So it seems that the website is doing this and does not leave me a choice. That seems strange. Then anyone who gets access to my computer can go to that website and go into the private section. Isn't that counterproductive to having a secure login? Thank you so much for your help. If you have any other advice, I welcome it. Sorry this was so long.

Change the site's cookie permission to Allow for Session and see whether that does what you want. If you are currently viewing the site, you can use the Permissions panel of the Page Info dialog. Either:

• right-click a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Permissions
• (menu bar) Tools menu > Page Info > Permissions
• click the padlock or "i" icon to the left of the site address, then the ">" icon, then More Information > Permissions

Scroll down to "Set Cookies" and

• if necessary, uncheck the "Use default" box
• select the "Allow for Session" permission

I didn't tell you to block cookies as that will prevent the website from working properly. I wrote that you can create an allow exception if you want the website to remember you. If the website would remember you at the moment then the normal procedure would be to remove the cookies from this website. Note that there might be cookies from other domains involved with and without a 'www' prefix.

Note that Firefox shows a notch at one o'clock on the Control Center 'i' icon at the left end of the location/address bar if you have made changes to the default permission settings.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks and history and cookies and passwords and cache and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
