In the past I was able to double-click on an event to open it and edit it, or see the details. I was told to right click and select Open, but when I do that, Open is greyed out. Now I can't open to see the details of an event or edit the event.

Did your calendar get set to Read Only?

Do you have a Calendar Pane on the left side showing your calendars?

If not go to View-Calendar-Calendar Pane Make sure Calendar Pane and Calendar List are checked.

Now right click the calendar icon in the calendar pane and select Properties. Is Read Only checked? I think a lock displays beside the calendar icon if it is set to read only but I do not have access to Thunderbird to check that for sure.

If not set to read only I would remove Lightning and reinstall. Your data is separate from the program so it will show again after the reinstall.

I tried your solution, but Calendar List is greyed out under View - Calendar - Calendar Pane.

Try going to the add-ons page and removing Lightning. Restart Thunderbird. Open Add-ons page again and type Lightning in the search box. When it appears select it and click Install. Restart and go to Tasks and Events and click Calendar.

Any better?
