Multiple tab refreshing constantly

If I have one tab open and open a second tab, when I go back to the first it reloads and isn't available to view until after this refresh. Likewise if I open a third tab and go back to the first or second they start to refresh again - can I stop this? I haven't asked to refresh the page and want to see it as I left it... these aren't website that require a refresh - might just be online shopping or a news article!

What are you homepage settings like and did you install any other Addons for FF?

I didn't install anything, but it started after Firefox automatically updated. My homepage is the Firefox page with "top sites" selected. Is there somewhere I can switch off the option to refresh tabs?

I should add the page doesn't refresh while I'm on it, it's only if I switch tabs. Even if only on the second tab for 5 seconds, if I flip back to the first it'll be refreshing (blank screen with circular "page loading"-type symbol.
