Cannot download firefox to W10 PC with IE, the exe. file is there, but goes no further. Neil holmes
I have a PC with newly installed large, 1.4tb, drive, Windows 10. CANNOT download Firefox, nor Chrome, nor any other alternative to IE. Downloads the exe. file then "Do you want to open this file" answer "open", then nothing. Something is blocking the downloads. Neil Holmes

Can you ensure you downloaded Firefox from the right place?
You can also try the full offline setups for Windows at www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
Some scanners still occasionally cause issues with the small online stub installers even though the stub concept have existed since Firefox 18.0
