When I try to send email, there is an endless "copying to sent messages" message with a green progress bar. This is for a two-word message! No indication that the message is sent. Also, can't close it or delete it.

All solutions welcome!

There are two actions.

1. Sending mail. 2. Copying a copy to the sent messages folder.

Your message relates to the latter, not in any away preventing the sending of mail.

if your account is provided by Outlook/Hotmail or Google then they place a copy in our sent folder and you should simply disable the Thunderbird copy in account settings > copies and folders.
