I get the following message sending or receiving email on Thunderbird.

Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Verification failed for <gregger@gregcpa.net> Mailbox is full / Blocks limit exceeded / Inode limit exceeded Sender verify failed. Please check the message recipient "gregger@gregcpa.net" and try again

When I delete emails I highlight and then press Shift-Delete. I am asked if I want delete without saving. I say yes.

I suggest you first contact your email host, as the mailbox being full seems the primary issue to address and it may require removing many messages to remove the restriction.
